With close to 40 percent or more foreigners in Singapore, the calls for a police permit from NParks is quite disturbing as I thought we wanted foreigners to feel welcome in Singapore, so we gave them our jobs, let them enjoy free tuition money, profit from public housing, just to show them just how gracious and generous Singaporeans are, even though we have citizens that have no money to put food on the table.
I think it’s ok for foreigners to come and observe how Singaporeans protest in a calm and peaceful manner like no other country in the world, where we have all the fireworks going on.
Some foreigners might also be keen on listening on what Singaporeans have to say before taking up the Singaporean citizenship. Also I thought PR’s were considered or classified as Singaporeans, because we always lump the statistics and when reporting in the MSM and classify PR’s as Singaporeans?
Maybe what the NParks can do is to get its workers to form a human chain around Hong Lim park and check every single person that walks in and out of the park as to prevent foreigners and PRs from entering the sacred site on that sacred event.
Another idea I have is that NParks create a small boxed in parameter, where they can contain and house all the foreigners inside that box and they can listen from there to what the speakers have to say?
NParks should not worry because only a minimum of about 10,000 Singaporeans are likely to show up but they should worry about the foreign press who will beam this broadcast into the universe and into the other planets that even extra terrestrials (E.T) will know that Singaporeans unite to “ Say No to 6.9 million”. The policy is a Trojan horse with its hidden agenda and the lack of accountability and transparency on many issues is indeed disturbing!
NParks what do you think of the Brompton bicycles, are they serving you well in your duties?
Cheers.
