A recent case of Bird Flu, H7N9, was reported in Malaysia’s Kota Kinabalu and the Ministry of Health has warned Singaporeans to be careful when travelling to affected areas.
While the MOH said that the risk is still low for Singapore and that there is no evidence of sustained human-to-human transmission of the virus, it said that Singaporeans should be careful when travelling abroad.
The woman diagnosed with H7N9 in Malaysia is 67 years old and had recently travelled from Guandong and was diagnosed on Tuesday. She is now in a stable condition.
Things to avoid when going to bird flu affected areas include live poultry markets, wild animals, birds, and poultry.
