The American Declaration of Independence gave a very good statement on the unalienable rights of the people to Life, Liberty and Pursuit of Happiness.
Did the PAP gave us any of these?
After 50 years, it seems they took away more of these!
The elderly and the sick who can’t afford to pay for medical are made to wait and waiting is definitely against your health and your life, when you are chronically sick. And in the meantime, to defend the living and the rich, they spend billions in arms.
Liberty when we thought that the Internet had at last opened up their control over the Mainstream Media had simply been eroded when they come up with more stringent regulations on local news site. And a protest of 1 is an offence and you can be arrested…Where do you find such laws in a democratic country?
Pursuit of Happiness….for the PAP themselves, Yes, Absolutely. For the common people? The pursuit of happiness for the typical Singaporeans are NOT even a dream now.
And when a political party after 50 years not only cannot delivery these 3 possible goals but erode them further, except for themselves and their allies, do you think such political party can continue to exist?
Yes, they can by implementing more restrictive laws and taking more money out of the ordinary people through regressive taxes, eating your CPF savings via every increasing HDB prices and of course, at the same time, since you have less CPF balances, no need to refund you! And who benefits from ridiculous rise in property prices? The GLCs who own land and buildings and serving as landlords; and those who “quit” Singapore by selling off their HDB or condos and not having to buy a replacement property because they leave Singapore permanently.
This is why we have lost the most basic goals of all citizens : Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.
