Mr Anton Casey has committed a an action with seditious tendency, whereby it is defined under Singapore's Sedition Act (Chapter 290) Section 3 (1) as: A seditious tendency is a tendency — (d) to raise discontent or disaffection amongst the citizens of Singapore or the residents in Singapore; (e) to promote feelings of ill-will and hostility between different races or classes of the population of Singapore.
Pursuant to Singapore's Immigration Act (Chapter 133), Section 11 (3) (b) The Controller may, in his discretion — at any time after the issue of a re-entry permit under subsection (2), vary or revoke any condition to which the re-entry permit is subject or impose any condition thereto.
With reference to the deportation of the presumed (since they were never charged nor sentenced) foreign rioters in the recent Little India riot, Mr Anton Casey should also face deportation. As such, Mr Anton Casey should be deported to his country of origin following the revocation of his re-entry permit and Permanent Residency status.
I believe that the damage caused by siditious acts are much more harmful than the act of rioters. Hence, I do not see any reason why the Controller of Immigration should not revoke his re-entry permit and deport him to his country of origin, with or without trial.
Also, it is apparent that Mr Anton Casey is not sincere in his apology from his carefully worded email ending "specifically for my family". In my opinion, he has simply indicated that he is unrepentant, and would not be apologising if not for the duress that his family. The fact that he has more than one act along the same line of thinking (prior video + current facebook post) indicates that his actions are not due to a moment of poor judgement, but an ingrained thinking that is unlikely be changed.
