I refer to National Day Award Recipient Loses Court Case Against Neighbour.
It said that Lieutanent Colonel Ng Boon Han lost a court case over a renovation dispute of $200,000. Click on
Last year, SAF Lieutenant Colonel paid $5000 for underaged prostitute sex.
Every time when I read such news, I can't help but think why civil servants in Singapore can behave immorally and I am not just talking about PAP Ministers' salaries.
I am talking about MEWR's Tan Yong Soon (Le Cordon Bleu saga) or Ng Boon Gay's sexcapades.
I used to aspire to be in civil service as serving Singapore and public used to be noble but now, these negative news have tarred the image of civil servants as being corrupt, wanton, petty and self-indulgent and self-serving.
For those who have served in army or in civil service before, we know that many of our Captains and Majors are able to command more than $5000 a month salary.
When I was in HDB, some deputy directors pay can easily cross the $20,000 a month salary which is more than what Tin Pei Ling can earn in a month as a PAP MP. And at least Tin Pei Ling has to work hard for her money by showing up at grassroots events on weekends and having to work pastmidnight for her MPS every week.
Over the years, civil service has justified their pay increases as saying this is to keep up with the private sector salaries. And that they need high salaries to justify people to serve the nation.
But can they say for certain that Tan Yong Soon, Ng Boon Gay or Ng Boon Han will do even better in the private sector than?
Why can't civil service benchmark it to the IT industry where it is infested with foreigners who continue to cheapen locals salaries?

Or why can't civil service benchmark it to a stingy company in my news article "Greedy Bosses and Low Wage Workers?" Click on http://therealsingapore.com/content/greedy-bosses-and-low-wage-workers
How can these high salaried civil servants not feel a tinge of guilt to be drawing at such a high salaries while we continue to have our salaries stagnated? How can civil servants share the same common dreams and goals when they don't even understand how the rest of the commoners like us have experienced?
Over the years, opposition parties have whacked PAP's Ministerial Salaries in Parliament.
It is time we look at those who have been flying under the radar - civil servants in stats boards and government agencies.
