Dear The Real Singapore,
Just chanced upon some interesting discussions within Singapore expat community’s forum with the following 3 that caught my attention for your perusal:
1. An Indonesian lady who applied for PR and got it in 5 months, but armed only with ordinary foreign degree and are employed in jobs that our young graduates are more than qualified to do (in fact, this is one field where locals always lose out to foreigners as they cost less).

You guys have been a good source of info and help from when i first came to Singapore in 2009, so I’m here again to ask for your advice. Without further ado, here are my stats. What do you think my chances are?
28, female, single
Race: Indonesian Chinese
Salary: 48,000+
Education: Bachelors of Science from a recognized university in the states
Years in Singapore: 3.5 years, and i honestly love it here!
Profession: Online Marketing and web development
I’ve had my EP renewed/ applied for new three times
Paid income tax pretty much every year since i’ve been here (2010 & 2011, will pay again for 2012 soon)Also, does employer profile matter? I work for an MNC now but hired through a smaller agency. Should i wait until i get converted full-time to the MNC or just go ahead and apply now?
If i get rejected now, does it hurt my future chances?
Thanks again in advance for your advice!

2. A PRC who become Singapore citizen in 2013 but choose to have his wife remain a Canadian PR and his future son born in Canada (in few months time) instead, and are now trying to see how to get dual citizenship for him in future.

Hi Gurus,
I’d like ask if anyone of you or your relative or friends had the similar situation like mine:
- I’m a Singapore citizen now (I converted from China citizenship to SC in year 2013)
- My wife is a China citizen + Canada PR + Singapore LTVP+
- Our baby BOY will be born in Canada in a few months time (My wife is already in Canada now)
- Our baby boy will become a Canadian citizen once he is born.May i know:
- If my boy can have dual citizenship (Canada+Singapore) once he is born? (Assume i submit Singapore citizenship for him within 12 months)
The reason for applying SC for him is for the convenience of living in SG, we plan to live and work in SG. Also about the education fees (childcare fee and primary sch fee). Thus we hope my boy can be a SC and enjoy all the benefits as a normal Singaporean kid. Of course we do NOT mind our boy to do National Service in the future.
3. Yet another who is trying to get 2 jobs at the same time, one permanent job on offer (EP application in progress) and another part-time job that he is trying to circumvent employment rules here to take on as well.

My EP application is pending.
However another Employer has offered me random freelance, perhaps 2 days per month only, on self employed basis. Will do the work on my day off, Saturday.
Is it possible to have 2 EP’s? One is via my Employer and the other via a new Ltd Co which I understand I need to set up and who will then sponsor me.
Employer income 8k firm, Ltd Co 2k month (unpredictable).
MoM website does not assist me.
This arrangement may give me some form of safety net in case things do not work out with my new Employer and I can easily promote my new/existing business.
