An open letter to Dr Koh Poh Koon

Dear Dr Koh,

I refer to your bid to win a seat in Parliament and recently, you mentioned that you are working hard to buy supporters votes by giving them free vouchers. Refer to article: "http://www.therealsingapore.com/content/dr-koh-poh-koon-connects-voters-giving-out-free-vouchers"

You also mentioned in an SPH interview earlier this year that you wish to be the 'change from within' and hope to win a seat in Parliament and be part of the 'change',

If you choose to be the 'change', there is no better way to serve us by looking at your own backyard in Fortis Hospital and Parkway Pantai.

Many of us know that these hospitals are quite infamous for their hiring practices. Click on http://therealsingapore.com/content/we-should-target-our-anger-pap-and-not-pinoys-khoo-teck-phuat-hospital

Each year, NTU, NUS, Singapore Poly, Ngee Ann Poly and Nanyang Poly produces at least a few hundred fresh graduates to fill up the jobs as medical technologists, perfusionists and phlebotomists.

However, we are infested with Pinoy medical technologists who depress our salaries, cheapen our market and causing the quality of our Singapore families to deteriorate due to their presence.

Once you reach old age, are being forced to resign at 50 because they are considered "top heavy". Old and drawing too high salary. That's why when NTUC Union approach these hospitals, they still refuse to budge.
In 2011, We look no further than your ex-staff Ben T***** who after resignation as a medical technologist in Parkway Laboratories, he commented to me that he was replaced by 2 Pinoy medical technologists. Salaries have also stagnated and not improved more than 10 years later. Recently, this year, my friend was offered a job in Gleneagles but her pay was only S$1600 per month which was exactly the same salary back in 2000.

When I was working in Khoo Teck Phuat Hospital, many Pinoys love to volunteer to work midnight shifts and weekends to collect more allowances to send back homes.

As a Singaporean who cannot draw out his CPF until age 65, I wasn't really motivated or keen to do that. Obviously, I wasn't really in my boss's favourite apple of his eye. Naturally I was ostracised.

However, we tend to channel our hatred towards Pinoys because we see them every day - on the buses, at work, on trains, and everywhere.

If only we have the power to transform each Pinoy to a PAP Minister, I believe that this anger, frustration and emotions will bode well in voting out PAP in GE2016.

Our living standards are falling apart - we are going downhill with lower salaries, higher stress and long working hours. Where is the Swiss standard of living, as promised by ESM Goh Chok Tong?

Dr Koh, if you truly wish to change things up, you can be the first one to change things in your own backyard, even if it means breaking your rice bowl. Until you are willing to take that first bold step, (just like the recent JWSS Vice Principal who spoke her mind) most Singaporeans are not going to be bought over with just a free vouchers.

Sincerely,

Lim
