PAP’s losing candidate in the Punggol East by-election held last January, Dr Koh Poh Koon, has resumed his fortnightly visits to HDB homes in the ward. He has been visiting the homes since a few months ago.
Dr Koh famously lost to WP’s Lee Li Lian in a four-cornered fight, which was triggered when the previous MP, PAP’s Michael Palmer, resigned over an affair with a female People’s Association staff.
To enhance his chances of capturing Punggol East at the next general elections which must be held by 2016, Dr Koh has launched a voucher scheme for the needy residents there.
A reminder to all punggol east residents not to fall for this vote buying scheme whcih is found in third world countries and its mostly illegal in most developed countries
Son of punggol second attempt to win Punggol East SMC by using vouchers to bribe voters is quite pathetic. While the WP’s strategy is based on winning through the hearts and minds, the son of punggol is resorting to their primitive strategy of winning through monetary and material benefits . he must reveal the person/persons underwriting the vouchers so that voters will know that no taxpayers’ monies have been misused. Otherwise his integrity will be questioned. We should just ask him:
Who is actually paying for these vouchers?
The money must come from somewhere. If it is all above board, he should broaden the scheme to include all poor citizens.
We vaguely remember reading report of this chap pledging during the election campaign to build a pre-school kindergarten in Punggol East, if he wins. When he lost the election he said residents have to look to the successful WP candidate to build one.
It’s been a year since this chap disappeared. There are a lot of clogged drains waiting for him to clear. So there is
a simple lesson to be learnt here: Vote in the opposition member as your MP, and the losing pap chap will be coming around so often and giving you vouchers etc to win you back; and u have a genuine mp representing you and your family’s future in parliament! win-win strategy no?
Punggol rather choose a down to earth and empathetic Ah Lian MP than a professional aloof doctor.
