The mother charged with murdering her baby son who was found in the waters off Bedok Jetty last month will spend another week undergoing psychiatric evaluation at Changi Women's Prison.
Lim Ann Nee, 44, looked on without expression from the dock when the remand order was handed down yesterday but she cried while talking to her lawyer, Mr Anand Nalachandran, reports The Straits Times.
About 30 family members and friends attended the 15-minute district court hearing but left without speaking to the media.
Lim's husband, Mr Sebastien Lacroix, a Frenchman, was also present.
The judge allowed Mr Nalachandran to pass her a pair of spectacles from her family.
Her case will be mentioned again on Dec 24.
Lim, who could be hanged if convicted, was found in the waters off East Coast Park by the Police Coast Guard (PCG) at about 6pm on Nov 25.
She was conscious and taken to the Singapore General Hospital.
Her son, 17-month-old Emilien Lacroix, was found floating about 300m from Bedok Jetty three hours later, after being spotted by a passenger on a passing boat. He was taken to the PCG headquarters on Pulau Brani, where Singapore Civil Defence Force paramedics pronounced him dead.
It had been reported earlier that Lim had recently lost her job with a technology firm. The couple, who live in Singapore, have an older son.
