Recently attended a function… the grassroots committee made a speech, the idea was like this:
“Under the PAP’s fine leadership, situation has worsen and you (business owners) have suffered, but on the bright side, we have these schemes and such to aid you…”
The tables of fellow men clapped half-heartily with a ‘yeah right’ look… since none of us intend to be beggars. Other than noisy singers who were not entertaining, the entire event was filled with hundreds of business owners and very few cozy words exchanged. When the MP came to my table, I put up a smiling face along with the rest for the toast, and when she left… we returned to the icy cold mood.
It was not the first grassroots function I attended with such atmosphere.
Committees formed to ‘review’ your housing woes, your transport woes and bla bla bla since dog years back… and now, another committee formed to address issues for the poor?
There had been couple of economic remake committees formed despite till now, poverty is rising with many demanding poverty line to be stated, pawn shops up in numbers and suicide rates ‘improving’ to larger figures despite the ‘successful’ economic remake hailed by whatever and whoever.
The wayang will continue.
While some articles at TR Emeritus addressed to the pathetic state of civil services including mine at http://www.tremeritus.com/2013/10/22/on-job-termination-and-the-way-ahead/, that when most of these emails to the government had been ignored as many had tried before, MP Baey has recently denounced the hackers for making extreme moves when he expects the people to ‘consult the government’ in straight open fashion…
…when a cartoonist was ‘arrested’, when many emails to government and SPH were ignored or ‘window-dressed’ for publications, when a little girl was threatened to be sued for suggesting education institutes for foul plays, when people can be terminated from services, when the casinos just got planted anyway despite the ‘hard truths’ about 10,000 jobs for Singaporeans and tons against the casinos…
…let me make an intelligent guess, the government spies on the people, PROBABLY by tapping your phones, through linked online services as Youtube, Google and Facebook alongside with its ally the USA.
I may stand corrected on this.
Many IT people expressed disbelief when I suggested that the hackers would be eventually traced and arrested IF they operated in Singapore or under the nose of USA intelligence in the region. Though I did not expect the arrest to be made that soon, but some are arrested and for a while, the hacking war stops.
Like typical Singaporeans… many have the skills, but not the brains. And they love to judge. I must say that this applies to both incumbent and the oppositions. Many don’t understand, not only the police masked our locations (or IP locations), everything PROBABLY goes through a central intelligence… Which is, surfing through websites, for instance, your trace would have been marked, you may been tapped in your general communication modes, and once you operate a hacking war against the government, you may delete the logs in the computers you controlled, but… your OS and other apps and software may have codes embedded with USA corporations working with the USA government, hence the Singapore government, and the police would have already marked you on the radar long long ago.
So if you are hacking from a static location using the same old PCs you will be using for other things and worse… you load videos onto Youtube and use related services including emailing, then good luck. Worst of the worst, if you happily hacked and proudly communicated at major local forums…
In my opinion, the hackers may have the skills, but they have no anti-espionage awareness.
Of course, I may be wrong… …
The reason why I am contributing this piece is to help some people understand, that while committees are formed, with the current human resource that enriched morons and denounced talents, and a leadership HIGHLY LIKELY to fight against any real changes… even to the very end, even to the demise of Singapore and you the people, very few of the businessmen really think…
…that the oppositions can work better.
I am aware of many ‘angry birds’ online who have high hopes of fighting against PAP and disposing it with WP, but let us assume that indeed there will be a fair election and indeed the current opposition party WP becomes the incumbent. Do you people know, other than his RUMORED sex with other married women as a Christian and popular opposition leader, what have Yaw done in other projects with Hougang flats? And does anyone know the real link to those projects leading to?
I don’t know. I am waiting for enlightenment.
While PAP may have fought against WP on the wet-market ceiling cleaning issue on political ground, but it’s still a real issue that unless the wet-market people pay more… they will have no cleaning. And town council fees are not dropping but increased at WP constituencies, so I heard.
This is the reality of politics…
If you do not have the power in the right hands, everything will go left, and when you want to right things, you will face massive resistance… controls, and casualties.
Many people remarked this when I intended to enter politics so expressed more than a decade ago, that why not just join an existing party?
Some people online who knew me from Young PAP forum era credited me for my perseverance in my ‘dream’. But they also should remember I did tell them the situation will become like what they are experiencing today. Singapore doesn’t need another opposition, but another government, and I’d like to form a new party… an All-Stars party where the Stars are defined as people with the quality to lead and govern.
And this is not a dream but a purpose in what my determination.
And last on our minds are scholars… timid scholars who are good at passing exams, demanding good life by sucking the people’s blood and producing nothing but excuses while polluting our world further with their craps, leading us to the current state that Emeritus Goh defines recently as the ‘Inflection Point’. This is… while many online are still talking about ‘credentials’.
As many other events I attended, we are not interested in Credentials, we are only interested in whether the general environment can work, whether the future is secured, and… … who CAN handle and provide us prosperity other than wayangs and excuses. We don’t want to be beggars under a self-shiok leadership be it from PAP or oppositions or from North Korea.
At this junction, I am aware of many people interested to enter the lucrative politics…
But in my humble opinion, and alongside my humble inclination towards politics, the reason why I want an All-Stars team to enter election and form the next government is because a government is to serve and lead the people from misery. In Napoleon’s rally, ‘to take you to fertile grounds’. In the current situation, only a few people are taken to fertile grounds where they are enriched and they have no intention to make other grounds fertile for the rest, and when they fail, they WILL not give up their positions.
And this may very likely applies to a WP government as well.
In order to serve and lead, we must focus on governing talents, in order to recruit such people… I have indicated to many people, I’d personally comb Singapore the tiny ‘moronic’ island for the very few talents with the right qualities to take on the challenges of the state after 2016 election. While currently the entire situation is indeed in a mess, the option for a better leadership can only come later because…
…it is in my humble opinion that we give PAP leadership the opportunity to do its very best. And since PM Lee Hsien Loong has come to power, we have seen what his team is capable of, and we have seen the super wisdom of getting ‘people who the government needs via GRC’ in his view… such as the very infamous Tin Pei Ling, your very capable Mr Khaw Boon Wan with his Brompton bicycles, but paying $8 for surgery, and a good friend of TT Durai, your very well-know Lee Bee Wah… who has contributed many laughable issues, and many many others, not forgetting… Mr Yacob who has created a grand excuse for the hackers to take on the government. And note that Mr Mah Bow Tan and Mr Wong Kan Seng are still in politics.
