SG Govt attempting to paint Dinesh in bad light

“Dinesh, 21, died on 27 September 2010 in Changi Prison. The circumstances of his death are in dispute: the State attributes it to “negligent” supervision during restraint whereas his family believe that he was “intentionally and deliberately” set upon by prison officers.

Mdm Selvi (Dinesh’s mother) is suing the government for both aggravated and general damages as she believes the guards hurt her son deliberately, so much so that he died from his injuries. This is completely opposite to the government’s position that the guards only restrained Dinesh when he became violent and he somehow suffocated as a result of the supervisor’s negligence…

Netizens cannot believe mainstream media reports that it took 8 men – whose combined weight surely exceeds 1,000 lb and who likely received martial arts training – 30 minutes to subdue the slim and slight 21-year old. For that reason alone, if for no other reason, they are demanding the resumption or re-opening of the Coroner’s Inquiry into Dinesh’s death.”

MHA spares no pains with the help of the 154th ranked media to paint Dinesh as a bad egg who was unlikely to hold down a job, further insinuating that Dinesh was a troublemaker who regularly went to jail.

THEY ALSO PAINTED THE FAMILY AS THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HIS DEATH AND DOES NOT IN ANY WAY JUSTIFY INHUMANE TREATMENT OR DEATH OF A PERSON UNDER GOVERNMENT CUSTODY because the prison is a government institution with a sets of protocols and laws to follow.

They also painted the family as the family has informally suggested that they would be prepared to “settle” the matter for substantial windfall amounts that are completely disproportionate.

If anyone is familiar with this, the regime has an history of such a habit since 1959 to paint its opponents in bad light, everyone from Chee soon Juan to JB Jeyarenam and more recently the worker’s party with many of its civil service apparatuses joining in the fray like MND, NEA and even the PMO.

The general public should not be moved by these recent MHA statements because it is an orchestrated attempt to discourage public support for the case. AGAIN, the public should realise criminal record of Dinesh has nothing to do with how he should be treated in prison.

THIS IS THE STANDARD PROCEDURE OF THE COWARDLY REGIME IN DEALING WITH ITS OPPONENTS SINCE 1959 JUST LIKE THE COWARDLY GANG ACT OF THE PRISON OFFICERS ON A HELPLESS 21 YEAR OLD.

THESE COWARDS IN UNIFORMS AND AUTHORITY WILL NOT DARE TO FACE THE PUBLIC WHEN CHALLENGED BECAUSE THEY DO NOT HAVE THE BALLS TO DO SO.

BEWARE

TREmeritus’s noteAs reported by TOC (15 Sep) [Link]:

“Nonetheless, Mdm Selvi Narayanasamy, the mother of Dinesh Raman, denies having asked for any specific amount of compensation.

She says that a government officer has been contacting her continuously to ask her to settle the compensation issue. According to Mdm Selvi, he has been asking her to name an amount but she has repeatedly declined to do so.

On Monday (9/9/2013), she said the officer had gone to her house with 2 other Chinese men. She said the officer showed her some papers detailing the breakdown of damages to be assessed and asked her to indicate the amounts for each component, but she declined.

In its statement on 13 September, the MHA said: “The State has offered a compensation quantum calculated on the premise that Dinesh Raman would have gone on to ITE and have had a stable job. This is a generous approach…”

Mdm Selvi says that her concerns are not about money or compensation. Instead, she is firm in her stance that the perpetrators must be held accountable and justice for her son must prevail.

She says that although she was told by the government officer that the prison officers involved had all been dealt with and that they were now consigned to desk-bound jobs within the Singapore Prison Service, she does not see this as justice being served.

Her writ against the government, lodged with the courts last week, contends that the prison officers had “intentionally assaulted” Dinesh Raman, resulting in his death.”
