How are you going to pay your Medishield Life premiums beyond the age of 90? Work beyond the age 90. That seems to be the answer Dr Ng Eng Hen is telling us.
Minister Ng Eng Hen. He tells us that to help us afford the Medishield Life premiums, we must have an environment that provides us good jobs. He doesn't address the fact that the Medishild Life premiums need to be paid beyond 90. Does he mean we all have to work beyond 90 too?
Singapore Government must be prudent going forward: Ng Eng Hen
The Government must exercise prudence even as it pledges to take better care of Singaporeans in terms of providing housing, education and health care, said Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen.
This will help Singapore avoid ending up like some countries in Europe, which now "have huge debts and problems", he said.
Dr Ng was reassuring those who have questioned how the country is going to foot the bills for policy changes announced by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in his National Day Rally speech last month.
"I believe that the way to go is to make sure that the economy is doing well and there are jobs," said Dr Ng, who was speaking at the Toa Payoh Central Mid-Autumn Festival at Toa Payoh Town Park last night.
As long as people have jobs, they would be able to use their Central Provident Fund (CPF) contributions to pay for their homes, education and health care, and the Government can balance its budget, he added.
Well and good if you are young and healthy. But what if you are already in your 80s and your Medisave fund is running dry, no thanks to the premiums paid to Medishield Life?
Dr Ng Eng Hen conveniently leaves the above important issue out. He leaves for you to conclude yourself - which is, you have to work even if you are 80 or 90. You need to work till you literally drop dead. Retirement is out of Dr Ng's (and PAP's) vocabulary.
The more I think about the forced Medishield Life Plan, the more I feel it is gonna cause many Singaporeans hardship. This Medishield Life stuff is the beginning of more misery for Sinkies to come.
