Recently I was shocked and baffled by the statement made by Minister Khaw Boon Wan on how HDB is losing millions and MOF have to subsidize HDB because of these losses.
What do you think is the outcome if Minister Khaw was working in a corporation and made this statement without giving the fine details of losses in an AGM meeting ?
Will he be dismissed because he is not able qualify his claims of losing millions, now what if Temasek and GIC came out with the same claims saying that they are losing money too ?
Just how in the world are Singaporeans going to know what is going on in this country if we do not see the exact breakdown of these claims?
When we sell land to private developers, how much profit goes into the state coffers, are we losing money too?
How did Cyprus and Greece wake up one morning to find that the country is bankrupt?
Why is it the straits times or ministers who claim to serve Singaporeans not ask minister Khaw to give the actual breakdown of losses?
Why is it Mah Bow Tan did not mention of any losses during his tenure?
This news from Minister Khaw is indeed very disturbing, and yet we claim that HDB is an asset, when on the flip side we are losing millions?
How much bonus do we pay HDB for losing millions and how is MOF going to get back this loan from HDB?
We need the “FREEDOM of information act” to be in place so that all Singaporeans can do our part in looking at how we are losing millions when we don’t know the actual cost of building a HDB flat in the first place?
No one will believe that we are losing millions until we get to see the actual breakdown cost of building a HDB flat.
I hope all Singaporeans will take this opportunity to ask for the building cost of a HDB flat, because who knows, soon the rest of the other institutions might also say they are losing millions, without any actual breakdown of details.
If we don’t have the breakdown cost, then we will not take your word that we are losing millions.
See you all on May 1st, this is an important day for all of us, other appointments can wait!
Regards,
Luke
